This module is a general module appropriate to both technical and non-technical professionals. In it, data terminology is defined and explored. Concepts including how to question data, identify bias, interpret shifting out of IT and into other business units are defined. The importance if how to leverage the Data Analysis Tool Pack, Azure ML, and PowerMap to work with tabular data and create effective visualizations using Excel are also covered.

Data literacy represents the fluency with which individuals and organizations can comprehend and communicate with data. This fluency is crucial for modern data-driven organizations because highly data literate organizations derive the most value from their data. Organizations are looking for individuals who know how to take raw data and turn it into powerful insights that can drive success in their organization.
There are many individuals who self-identify as “not a math person” or are intimidated by numbers. With so many entry level roles in organizations – across ALL functional areas in for-profit, non-profit, and government agencies – expecting new hires to have basic data literacy and numeracy skills, not having this foundation will limit your immediate job options. This 35-hour self-paced course will demystify data for those who may not be comfortable with numbers or data, setting them up for success in the data-driven 21st century organization.

Who Should Attend
This course is designed for those who need to establish a firm foundation in data literacy and numeracy skills. Whether you have a degree in a liberal arts discipline that did not rely upon and/or develop quantitative, data, and numeracy skills or have not had much experience with these skills generally, this course will introduce you to the ground level concepts and give you the confidence to leverage data in the decision-making competences required – and expected – by employers across all industries and functional areas in organizations.
